Strengthening Parent/Guest Access password requirements

As part of our ongoing data security efforts, we will be expanding minimum password requirements for Parent/Guest Access in LOCUS. This will require action by students to change Parent/Guest Access passwords by June 1st, 2026.

Parent/Guests cannot reset these passwords themselves. If no action occurs by the deadline, we will automatically update the Parent/Guest account passwords to be unique and randomly generated characters in order to meet new minimum requirements. Students must then complete a password update for each Parent/Guest Access account they've created and communicate this to their parents or guests in order to regain access.

How do I update the password for my Parent/Guest Access accounts?

What will be the new password requirements? 
New passwords for Parent/Guest Access will require:

• A minimum of 12 characters
• At least one uppercase letter (A–Z)
• At least one lowercase letter (a–z)
• At least one special character (e.g., !, @, #, $)
• At least one number (0–9)
• Cannot be the same as your User ID
• Cannot be the same as your University email address

What happens if I don't update?
If the password is not updated by the deadline, the University will automatically reset the Parent/Guest Account password using a secure algorithm. Students must reset passwords for those Parent/Guest accounts, as individuals using these accounts cannot reset passwords themselves. This may cause temporary access issues, so please take action before the deadline to avoid any disruptions.
